WORKS IN PUBLIC/Model to Monument 2026

To be eligible for Works in Public applicants must meet the following criteria:
- 18 years or older
- Reside within reasonable commuting distance of the New York City metropolitan area during the school year
- May not be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program as of September 2026
- Possess a Social Security Number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number
Submission Requirements:
1) Artist Statement
2) Resumé/CV of art-related activities
3) Proposal for Public Sculpture and public programming (To be fabricated and installed in Riverside Park at 145th Street or Riverside Park South)
4) Portfolio (Twenty (20) images of original artwork, proposal maquette, and ideation materials)
5) Image List of submitted files in numerical order (Title, dimensions, medium, year, one or two line description/explanation of the artwork)
Selection Criteria
I. Artistic Merit & Creativity
- Originality of concept and sense of aesthetic vision
- Quality of artwork and demonstrated artistic skill
II. Proposal Development & Feasibility
- Demonstrate a realistic grasp of how the proposal can be fabricated
- Demonstrate clear ideation from concept to maquette
- You are strongly advised to physically visit and study each WiP site (Riverside Park South at 61st Street and Riverside Park North at 145th Street) and demonstrate an understanding of your selected site and how it relates to your proposal. See Site Maps here.
III. Public Engagement
- Demonstrate an understanding of the installation site and how the project will resonate with the local community
